Explaining how manioc is harvested

Watching the process of grinding the manioc root. We learned that a few drops of manioc juice had enough cyanide to kill a buffalo so the poison has to be carefully removed

Making tapioca pancakes

Gabriel's family grows many acai trees

An acai plantation

Acai berries at the top of the tree

Back on the boat for lunch

A dog that had wandered a bit far from its home

We rescued it and fed it lots of leftovers which it devoured hungrily

The handicraft workshop in Acajatuba village

They collect acai berries and dry them for making crafts

Students make jewellery from the berries

We invited the local school kids to join us in a friendly futbol match

The kids were SO good,  while playing barefoot!

EC did us proud . The kids however won 4-2.
